Sandy Show - The Greatest Show in England

0.600m X 1.750m
In the 1920’s it was billed as the greatest show on earth. First held in 1868 the Sandy Floral and Horticultural Society was formed the following year playing a leading role in the subsequent running of the annual shows.
The show featured floral displays and horticultural produce displays. There were animal shows, in particular rabbits. In the 1920’s a huge storm, the night before the show (then held on Hawkesbury meadow, Everton Road) wrecked tents and exhibits and as a result a large number of rabbits escaped into nearby fields and Pym’s Wood.
