Carolyn Blake

Carolyn Blake is a painter with an MA in Fine Art from City and Guilds School of Art, London. She has 31 years experience in teaching art and design and running art departments in both Birmingham and Bedfordshire.

She became involved with mosaic making 4 years ago, learning the Roman technique with Lawrence Payne and spending some time with Luciana Notturni in Ravenna studying the Byzantine techniques. She was commissioned to make mosaics for St Peter's church in Biggleswade which included running community projects. In 2015 she devised a project for a three town mosaic heritage trail which was accepted under Central Bedfordshire Council's Market Town Regeneration Scheme and through that met the artist Oliver Budd. She is currently working with him on 15 mosaic panels for Sandy, Potton and Biggleswade.
